Marquette Sawyer Regional Airport’s operations and maintenance division is responsible for providing aircraft rescue and fire-fighting operations, daily airfield self inspection for FAA compliance, snow removal in excess of 9,000,000 ft2 of pavement to all landside and airside operational areas, building and ground maintenance in excess of 1,200 acres of county property, and the maintenance of a fleet of over 30 vehicles.
Crews battle in excess of 84 days of snowfall per season (more than Steamboat Springs, CO; Nome, AK; Buffalo, NY; Duluth, MN; etc).
