BACKGROUND:
The Airport Rebranding Project is a multi-phased project, part of a cooperative venture between several stakeholders aimed to move the Marquette County-owned airport, Sawyer International Airport, toward a “best in class” status. It is the intent that the new brand will instantly connect travelers to the Upper Peninsula’s character and spirit and will be incorporated into the pending airport terminal renovation. To ensure success, a project advisory team, composed of key community stakeholders, has been established to guide this effort and give critical feedback throughout the project.

Marquette County is issuing this Request for Proposals (RFP) from qualified firms to perform PHASE 1, PART A and PHASE 1, PART B of the project. Qualified firms may respond to either or both PART A and PART B.

For PHASE 1, PART A, the consultant(s) will

  • conduct a strategic conversation with the community to define the spirit, character, and opportunities of the Upper Peninsula region;
  • analyze input collected; and
  • develop and report of findings and recommendations.

For PHASE 1, PART B the consultant(s) will

  • develop airport logo and name options based on results of PHASE 1, PART A, and
  • create branding package for selected name and logo.

All proposals will be reviewed and ranked by a review committee. The committee will recommend a firm(s) for selection to the Marquette County Board of Commissioners. Marquette County reserves the right to reject or waive any irregularities in the proposals.

Project objectives include determining a brand that connects the character, spirit, and opportunity of the region. Economic developers and drivers have expressed a critical need for a best in class airport to support economic advances and thus the new brand must advance the airport toward that status. Incorporating the development opportunity of the airport campus is also a critical component of the project. The current logo and brand no longer meet the needs of the region. The final product will be a branding package that meets the needs of the community and allows the airport to seamlessly transition to a new identity.

Marquette County is seeking a consultant(s) who can demonstrate the ability to perform all the duties and tasks necessary to complete work as outlined in this RFP. The RFP packet, including instructions can be found below.
